Biometry and pre-germinative treatments of seeds from an Amazon endemic species

This study aimed to verify the impact of different methods overcoming dormancy in germination Ipomoea cavalcantei seeds, addition surveying biometric data its seeds and fruits. Ripe fruits were randomly collected from species’ habitat, which is a unique ecosystem characterized by small vegetation iron outcrops. For analyses, weight, moisture content, length, width, thickness 100 determined. To analyse efficiency seed dormancy, six treatments tested, including mechanical, physical, chemical methods, resultant germinability, average time, speed index evaluated. Further, order estimate imbibition curve, two selected measure water absorption rate until root emission at least 50 % seeds. The results showed that I. biometrically vary thickness, makes it difficult obtain standard situ samples. Moreover, mechanical scarification most efficient increase obtaining seedlings this species. can contribute ex conservation strategies for endemic species, threatened increasing mining activities.
